Before you just skim past this one because you're thinking "I've never seen anything with Joss Whedon in it" let me stop you there. Also, let me tell you a little bit about myself since I just kind of dove right in with Chris Evans.
I am a writer. Screenwriting is a true passion of mine. And somewhere along the way of finding this passion I came across several shows that I fell in love with. And a number of them had one thing in common: Joss Whedon. He has written and directed a lot of stuff and I would actually be surprised if you haven't watched something he's written.
He wrote Firefly, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. He also wrote The Avengers as well as The Avengers Age of Ultron. He is responsible for Doctor Horrible's Sing Along Blog and the show Dollhouse (which I actually haven't watched yet). He is also the genius behind one of my favorite Shakespear adaptions of Much Ado About Nothing. It's in black and white but set modernly with the original iambic pentameter. AMAZING. I HIGHLY recommend it. Nathan Fillion's Dogberry is so classic.
You can see his IMDb creds here. And be all kinds of amazed at the genius stuff he's written.
I once had a dream I was meeting up with him for lunch in LA to discuss a movie with him and Tom Hiddleston. I hope one day to have that experience. I would LOVE to work with him on something. That would be beyond amazing. One day....one day.....
So, to finish off my post, I made homemade Oreo cookies because this is a new take on a classic cookie which is how I feel about Joss Whedon.
Homemade Oreo Cookies
Cookie:
1 box Devil's Food cake mix
1 Egg
1/2 Cup Butter (melted)
Mix until combined. Roll into quarter sized balls and place on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes. When done, remove from oven and let cool completely.
Filling: (I just use a basic frosting)
1/2 cup shortening (or butter for a buttercream frosting)
3-4 Cups Powdered Sugar
1 tsp. Vanilla
4-5 Tbs. Water or Milk
Combine. May need more sugar or liquid depending on how thick you want your frosting.

Arthur Darvill
In honor of Arthur Darvill's 34th birthday today, I have already watched, like, seven episodes of Doctor Who, half of the most current season of DC's Legends of Tomorrow. And I'm going to watch some Broadchurch.
Some of you may be thinking to yourself, Who is Arthur Darvill? I know Soozee just named off some shows, but he's still not familiar to me! Well, I suggest you go check out his profile on IMDb here, because I think I am on that website at least once a day. It's not creepy. I learn a lot about new shows coming up and what other shows I need to be watching. Like earlier I learned that Kristen Bell was on Heroes?! What?! I know. The things you learn. But I digress....
For Arthur's birthday, I made the most amazing Chewy Brownies. Now, this is a secret family recipe, so shhhhhhh, m'kay?!
Chewy Brownies
2 Cups Granulated Sugar
1 Cup Canola Oil
4 Eggs
1 tsp Vanilla
Mix until well combined then add:
1 1/2 Cups Flour
1/2 Cup + 2 Tbs Cocoa
1 tsp Salt
Mix. Pour into a prepared 9x13 pan. I usually grease the pan with a little bit of shortening and then flour the pan. This will allow the brownies to come out of the pan easier.
Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Insert a toothpick in the middle to check if they are done. Toothpick should come out clean.
Now, please do not tell my Great Great Grandma Dablestein I shared the family recipe. She'd be turning over in her grave if she found out. She carried that recipe in a small pouch that she carried on her back across the plains with only three other treasured belongings. A watch from her father, a ring from her beloved and this recipe. It's that special. So, let's keep it hush hush, 'kay? Okay.
Now, I highly recommend watching some Doctor Who and enjoying these delicious brownies while Arthur keeps dying, but not permanently dying because he keeps coming back. haha. It's great. I love that show. And he is my favorite character besides David Tennant and Christopher Eccelston.
Enjoy!!

Chris Evans
Hey everyone! Welcome to a new venture!! So, in case you are new and haven't visited my previous blogs or have ever met me in real life, I should explain. I am a HUGE pop culture nerd especially when it comes to movies and TV Shows. And even more specifically with the comic book genre. For the last three years I have posted on specific celebrity birthdays what shows of theirs I would be watching and what treat I would be making to celebrate the day. Often these lists would be longer than the actual hours in the day, but mostly it was to recall the amazing shows I already love to watch.
That said, I am starting with one of my favorite actors. Chris Evans is from Boston (a place I'd LOVE to visit!) and I actually met him last September. I have been a huge fan since around 2003 when I watched Perfect Score and then I loved him as Johnny Storm in the original Fantastic Four movies. And then he was in a bunch of other movies that I have seen, but I'm not entirely sure 80% of my friends have even heard of. To be honest, I own copies of most of them. (Can we talk about the ridiculous ending of Push?! I mean, I know you wanted to do a sequel, but c'mon. Give the audience at least a little bit of closure!!)
And then, he became Captain America and now you all know who he is. I was going to make something very Captain America-esq like Apple Pie, but then I thought that I wanted a classic. Because Chris Evans is a classic. SO, I give you the classic Chocolate Chip Cookie. Mmmmmmmm. You know you want some. Just look. And, without further ado, here's the recipe:
Chocolate Chip Cookies
1/2 Cup Granulated Sugar
1/2 Cup Brown Sugar
1/3 Cup Butter
1/3 Cup Shortening
1 Egg
1 tsp. Vanilla
Mix until well combined and then add:
1 1/2 Cup Flour
1 tsp. Salt
1 tsp. Baking Soda
Mix well and then add:
2 Cups Chocolate Chips
Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes.
